When Is Respite Care Necessary?

Are There Certifications to Provide Respite Care? 

There is no specific certification in Canada to provide respite care, however, many respite care providers have additional certification in the field. These certification programs might focus on care standards, administering proper care, and in-home caregiving. Additional certifications may include but are not limited to: first aid certification, recreation therapy, personal support work, developmental support work, etc. From The Heart Respite Care has a diploma in Recreation Therapy and certification from DementiAbility along with other training provided on the job. We have experience with the compassion and expertise to carry out all job duties.

What Is the Difference Between Respite and Hospice Care? 

The primary difference between these two services lies in the focus of each type of care. While hospice promotes comfortable end-of-life care for those with end-stage chronic illnesses,  respite care provides temporary relief for caregivers to rest before resuming their duties with renewed energy.
